Governor’s Optimist New Year Greetings
Fellow AMS&NW Optimists, I greet you well. Wishing you a Happy Optimist New Year. Before I share my greetings, let me pause to say a big THANK YOU to IPG Roger and his team for the sterling work that they did in the last administrative year. They have set the foundation on which we will build this great district. Although the baton has been passed on to the new administration, it is of critical importance that we work together to continue the legacy of high achievement for this district. I would like to thank all the club leaders and officers, LTGs and committee chairs for accepting their roles in this ‘JOI of G.R.O.W.T.H. year.’ The theme of Growth is not by accident nor chance, but is deliberate, as we have to focus on growth, and I am not just talking about growth in numbers, but also growth in the quality of service we deliver, and most importantly, our personal growth as both Optimists with capital O and as human beings in particular.
Our theme for this 1st Quarter is “Personal Growth,’ so we will focus on growing our optimist education, general education, and ways to recruit and retain our members. The saying is that, “If we are not growing, then we are dying.’ I can assure you members they we are definitely NOT dying.
I feel excitement and buzzing in the air for this new year, with optimists renewing their commitment and enthusiasm to employ new energies and inject new life into our district, with all displaying strong leadership and participation in our clubs so that youth we serve will reap the benefits of our hard work.
I encourage us all to work together as a strong team to achieve our goals and objectives and to practice the tenets our Wonderful Optimist Creed.
