GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE – 2025- 2026
Welcome to the “Soar with Optimism, Be the Change 2025-2026 Optimist Year.” By embracing
this year’s theme, you are helping to lead the way in creating positive change within your
communities and inspiring others to make a meaningful difference. Your dedication is truly
appreciated. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Governor for a second
term. I am the first Governor in the AMS&NW District to have that privilege. I take this
opportunity very seriously, but I also plan to make the most of this year, balancing fun and
meaningful moments.
One of the most profound lessons I have learned through being an optimist for 31 years is the
ever-present nature of change. I discovered that participating in the club's programs leads to
transformation—not only for oneself but also for the youth we help and the people we meet.
None of us remains the same as when we first joined our clubs; we have all grown together.
I've chosen the theme “Soar with Optimism, Be the Change” for our 2025-2026 district year,
echoing Optimist Internationals' recognition that changes are needed. This year’s OI theme is
“Be the Change.” Our organization, like many service groups, faces declining membership. Our
Optimist International President, Tom Kendo, believes that small changes, implemented
collaboratively with OI staff, will make a meaningful difference, and I wholeheartedly agree.
I encourage you to seize the chance to make small changes within your own clubs. Initiate a
new project or view an old one from a fresh perspective. Modest adjustments at each meeting,
project, and act of service present an opportunity to energize your club and create a lasting
impact for youth, your community, and yourselves.
It's time to take flight with your goals soaring high in 2025-2026.
BE THE CHANGE!
