AMS&NW DISTRICT GOALS 

​Membership plays an essential role in maintaining the health of the Optimist
organization and supporting your various communities. However, I believe that when
club members actively participate, enjoy themselves, and make positive contributions, the club becomes more attractive to potential new members.

  • For the current year, Optimist International has introduced a new trial
          membership level called the Merit Level. Achieving this level means that a     
          club finishes the year with the same number of members it began with and                makes a non-restricted contribution to the Optimist International Foundation              or the Canadian Children’s Optimist Foundation of at least $100.00. The 
         organization acknowledges that clubs may experience member attrition due to            factors such as relocation, illness, or death. Each club is encouraged to strive            for the Merit Level, despite these challenges.

  • The Honour Level remains unchanged. If a club reaches the Merit Level and
          adds three new members during the year, it will be recognized as an Honour
          Club.

  • The Distinguished level has not changed. If you meet the Honour Club
          requirements and grow your club by net plus 15 members, or build a club, you
          can become Distinguished.

  • I believe that every club can reach the Merit level. I also think that every club can achieve the Honour Club level. My goal is for every club to reach Merit level, gain at least one new member each, and for the District to add at least two new clubs this year.
